We’re empowering Maine’s ambitious entrepreneurs with the knowledge, resources, and talent they need to successfully grow their businesses.

Business Support Programs

Under the FocusMaine partnership umbrella, entrepreneurs access an array of programs offered by expert organizations to help them grow their companies.

Many growth-oriented food, beverage, and seafood companies participate in multiple programs outlined below, accessing the support they need for their developmental stage.

We work to attract more companies that believe, as we do, that Maine has what they need to succeed. We focus our efforts on workforce needs, incentives, and marketing to help businesses find a new home and expand the availability of good jobs within the state.

Even as we strengthen individual companies and workers, we are mindful of the need to create more resilient ecosystems for our sectors.

The workforce programs are designed to support all Maine sectors, support Black, Indigenous, and Peoples of Color (BIPOC) in career opportunities, and support the workforce needs of Maine’s food economy and bioeconomy.

Defining Maine’s Food Economy

Our work in the Food Economy encompasses three main areas: aquaculture, agriculture and value-added food and beverage production. Maine’s geographical location and unique access to land and sea resources position the state as a key player in the rapidly growing industries. By supporting programs and scaling businesses in these industries, our goal is to capitalize on Maine’s inherent strengths to help us compete on a national level while continuing to prioritize the responsible use and protection of Maine’s resources.
